English At Home #8
Hello my dear students! Today we'll learn about the time zones.
In the following video you could see an explanation about timed zones and how they work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybXrIPk0Hw
Now, pay attention to our class. I'm going to explain you with some examples the time zones. If you have any doubt please contact me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDfVNEf7Sa4
Is it clear? If the answer is yes, let's practice with some games and a story!
In this game you have to put the correct hour on each clock, if the answer is correct, the game will show you a daily routine. https://www.turtlediary.com/game/reading-a-clock.html
In the following game you have to choose the correct digital clock and match it with the
corresponding analog clock. https://www.primarygames.com/time/question4.htm
Read or listen the following story, then you will have to complete nine sentences related to the story collocating the correct hour on each of them. As a pre-reading activity, you will match the story’s vocabulary with their corresponding pictures. https://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/short-stories/one-moment-around-the-world
Open your workbook on page 44. You will have to answer some questions according to the pictures that you will observe. Then, you will have to draw 4 pictures and write their respective sentences.
PROJECT:
Design four different clocks with different times according to the time
zones. Then, you have to draw an activity for each clock and you will have to
explain the cities that you choose and what kind of activity their habitants
do at that time comparing it with the others.
For example, I could talk about New York, San Cristobal, London and
Tokyo. In NY it’s 4 pm, in San Cristobal it’s 3:00 pm, in London is 9:00 pm and
in Tokyo is 5:00 pm. People in NY go to
home, people in San Cristobal have lunch, people in London go to bed and people
in Tokyo take a shower.
You have to send me your video before June 6th at 10:00 a.m.
